Part 1 : Rukiya

30 sec- parallel 

Parallel sound is music that is associated with the scene.


Part 2: Gurleen

30 sec- contrapuntal

Contrapuntal sound is music that is not normally associated with the scene.

For the second half of the video, we decided to use violent, boxing pictures to contrast the first half of the picture, which accompanied the sound very well. The pictures that we used in the last 30 seconds create a disturbing scene, while the first half seems calm and composed.


Plan/ ideas:
Firstly, my partner and I decided to use a classical piece of music that is calm and peaceful. Next, my partner found pictures to add for the first 30 seconds—these pictures were used to show the idea of parallel sound, e.g., ancient paintings and romantic paintings. Then, for the last 30 seconds, I chose images that contrasted the first half and the peaceful music. These pictures were of violent boxing scenes, as shown, to show the idea of contrapuntal sounds. Finally, we merged these pictures and created a smooth transition using Adobe.

Mise-en-scene recreation practical task Plan The Blair Witch Project - Apology Scene MISE-EN-SCENE Costume : To mirror the original character, I had my actor wear a durag to act as the beanie, as no other details in the frame are visible. Lighting : The overall ambiance is dark, but I utilized my phone flashlight to create a harsh light on one side of his face and to create a contrast between light and dark. Actors’ Expressions : I ensured he appeared as sorrowful and vulnerable as possible, just like in the original.
